The White House is considering measures to punish China and other countries that hack US computer networks, including economic sanctions and other restrictions on doing business in the US.
If sanctions are imposed against companies believed to have benefited from the hacks it could affect the ability of these companies to access American Financial markets and trade with American companies.
While the U.S. believes that China is by far the most pervasive and persistent hacker, Russian cyber spies and criminals are generally more sophisticated and have stepped up their actions, especially against U.S. financial institutions, amid tensions over Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
